The kit is based on Swallow from Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons, which probably makes it the most famous and read about dinghy in the world?
The instructions indicate that it can be made into a sailing model, which is certainly the intention. The original was a "long keel" boat without a centreboard. The kit is designed so a metal keel can be added instead of the supplied wooded one. A piece of 1/4 by 1/2 brass section will be used. From here the intention is to add a detachable ballasted fin keel.
The rudder servo will fit under the aft seat, with the batteries and receiver in the side seats. The use of a second servo to control the sail will be considered - perhaps in a removeable case positioned under the centre thwart. As an open boat, some for of buoyancy also needs to be considered.
The brass section is used to keep the keel straight while gluing.
